On the Campaign Trail

I'm excited to announce I'm running to be your next State Representative in Michigan's 84th House District. I'm ready to do the work to find real solutions to the problems Michigan is facing.

We need a thriving economy to keep our youth in the state, we need a legislature that champions policies that benefit all Michigan citizens, and we need safe communities and world class school systems for our children.

There are many events along the campaign trail, and I will be posting all events and activities to this site on a regular basis.

State Legislative News

Legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives to create a “predictive scheduling” mandate.

Legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives to create a “predictive scheduling” mandate on certain employers, including retail, hospitality and/or food services.

As a small business owner with over two decades of experience in the hospitality sector, I am strongly opposed to the proposed "predictive scheduling" legislation in Michigan's House of Representatives. This bill, HB 4035, while seemingly benign in its attempt to safeguard restaurant workers, imposes a rigid 14-day advanced scheduling requirement on employers, including those in retail, hospitality, and food services.

This proposal does not take into account the dynamic and unpredictable nature of

small, family-run businesses that form the backbone of our industry—businesses

that are hardly thriving with exorbitant profits, many just barely maintaining

a 15% profit margin. By potentially enforcing a time-and-a-half pay rate for

schedule changes, this bill threatens to inflict severe financial strain on

these establishments.

Michigan's hospitality industry, as the state's second-largest private employer, has

already endured substantial hardship, evidenced by the closure of 3,000

restaurants and the loss of 200,000 jobs due to the pandemic. The enactment of

such a bill would not only hinder the recovery of these businesses but also

drive them away from Michigan, further weakening our economy.

I urge you to contact your local representative and encourage them to vote no on

House Bill 4035 to prevent further damage to our state's fragile economic

landscape.
